Luxury brands are nice but I could live without a $1000 purse. I don't think it's necessary unless you like to brag about your status. I think you can make anything look good even if its just a dollar. One day I was watching YouTube and I seen this beauty guru Kellie Sweet wearing these furry Gucci loafer slippers. I love loafers and slippers before they became a trend so once I seen the ones on her feet I wanted them so bad. I looked at the prices on the Gucci site and honestly who can just drop $800 on a simple pair of shoes. Every since that video I had been looking for a similar shoe that wasn't going to disrespect my pockets. I found these Cape Robbins by accident when I was browsing for an everyday shoe. I didn't purchase them the first time I was kind of ify if I really liked them but I went back again. I couldn't stop thinking about them. When I got in the store they were not in the original spot that they were in previously. I was so heartbroken but something in the back of my head told me to look around the store and I found them in the wrong shoe size section. Success! They were only $12. The orginal price was around $30 so that was a great deal. They are incredibly comfortable and I wear them everyday. They are a great slip on and go shoes that can be for day or night time attire. Only minor con is the heels of the shoes does make a clicking noise but I like unwanted attention so O well. Now if your a cheapskate like me you want to know the difference between the Gucci. Here is a comparison:

Style Icons

There are a lot of influential style icons that have inspired all of us at one point in each of our lives. I have changed my personal style many times but I always go to these outstanding women for some inspiration. They are not only style icons but they are women who paved the way for standing out and being different.

FKA Twigs has set her own lane by using her dancer/gymnast background to her advantage. She can be seen in most of her Instagram posts and music videos doing crazy things with  her floor length hair. Her style is very out there and usually a design created in her own mind. You never see her rocking the big conventional labels. She usually is wearing unknown designers who know how to incorporate her long locks into the piece she is wearing. Her music is an intense lullaby of melodies that seem to soothe the mind and ease the soul. She is definitely worth a listen next time your on YouTube.

Twiggy the face of MOD. The biggest style icon of the 60s. She was so sought after for modeling a Barbie was made in her likeness and image. (Which I'm hoping I can own one day). She brought an androgynous sex appeal to the fashion community that landed her on big magazines such as Vogue. Her big eyes, short cropped hair, and long eyelashes made her a unique beauty in a world of copies.

Gaga oh-la-la! Lady Gaga came into the music game ready to shock the world with her crazy songs and her even crazy fashion sense. She turned pop into art pop. From wearing a crazy meat suit to the 2010 MTV Awards to her trying obscene runway trends that are meant only for the runway. Not every one agrees with her music or fashion sense especially PETA. She is unapologetic in 2011 her song Born This Way proved she isn't changing for anyone. I absolutely love the song because as a fellow member of the weirdo committee it made me realize I am perfect in all my imperfections. I was born this way. Thanks Mother Monster.

This songstress of the late 70's was known for big disco hits and her even bigger hair. She was usually in flowing dresses or sequin pieces. Her signature statement was a flower in her hair during her performances.  She is most known for her hits "Hot Stuff" and "Bad Girls". Sadly God called her home in 2012. She passed away from lung cancer and the world lost the disco queen forever but she left music behind that will be played around the world for decades to come. R.I,P. Queen may you skate in heaven with all the greats.

Norma Jean also known as Marilyn Monroe was known for her blonde hair, charming smile, and the way her hips sway as she walks in the room. She was a sex symbol of her time and even though women loathed her men groveled at her feet. She had recurring roles in several movies as the dumb blonde. Her style was simple but she could wear a trash bag and make it look sexy. She died of an overdose of sleeping pills after dealing with depression since childhood. She is most remembered for her scandalous rendezvous with presidents but in my own opinion she is known for just being herself in a time era where women where supposed to be seen not heard.

Rihanna came into the music industry as a sweet island girl with big dreams. In the beginning of her career she was sporting long simple hair or a short wavy bob. When the album Good Girl Gone Bad came out in 2007 she was sporting a long bang and a shaved head. Gone was the cookie cutter island girl and out came the edgy rebellious more daring Rihanna. She is known for wearing bold hairstyles that are usually paired with loud colors and eye catching patterns. In 2016 this fashionista collaborated with PUMA to create the most sought after shoe that same year. Recently her PAPER magazine shoot inside a convenience store showcased her artsy street wear style. This versatile beauty has inspired a lot of the pieces in my closet and I personally can not wait for what she wears next.

This kawaii kind of Gothic beauty first introduction to the world was The Voice. The alternative world fell in love with her cute baby face and two toned wigs. She is known for dressing like an adult baby which started this trend of her fans doing the same. Melanie Martinez is very talented and her bold makeup looks and her bold outfit choices makes her unique. She has created her own lane. She now has merchandise that can be purchased on her website or in Hot Topic.

Erykah Badu also known as mom is the Queen of deep spiritual s**t and Neo soul. Her music is known worldwide and she has a warm spirit that makes you want to know her personally. Before having natural hair was a trend Erykah Badu was already rocking her long luscious roots. Her fashion is in a league of its own. Check her Instagram and you may see her in 10 inch heels towering over everyone. She might have on a neck piece that weighs 20 pounds. She is confident in who she is and no one dare challenges her. One of her famous quotes is "Look I choose peace but, say...Don't walk up on me wrong. This tea and incense can turn into Colt 45 and Newports if NEED be OK" It's safe to say you can call Tyrone but you cant use her phone.
